Mickey Winn was born in Liverpool and taught guitar by his father at the tender age of six. He started writing music at the age of nine. Mickey joined his first band at fifteen, a punk band called Captain Zombie And The X-Ray Plates. At sixteen he was teaching Julian Lennon guitar.

Mickey's career as a singer songwriter has taken him across three continents, accumulating a rare depth of musical experiences along the way, stopping off to work with Terence Trent D'arby, Sisters Of Mercy's Andreas Broon and Patricia Morrison, Mott The Hoople's Steve Hyams, a myriad of Irish musicians including Mick Flynn and the Dubliners and platinum selling producers Ron Magness and Pierre Tubbs. Studios worked in have included Abbey Road ("The Wiseguys" album) and New York's Electric Ladyland studio ("The Sound Of Y" album). He has recently been playing and writing with the legendary Tim "Morning Dew" Rose to acclaim from the public and the press.

Mickey's current band is the American band The Pioneers which includes The Who's John Entwistle on bass. They have just released their first album "The Pioneers" out on www.pioneersdirect.com and will be showcasing in Nashville in June.

Mickey has been commissioned by London Transport to record his song "Jubilee Line" which is now available at the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden. It is the first music CD to go on sale at the London Transport Museum. He has been promoting his music on London radio stations and a live appearance at the 12 Bar Club in Denmark Street with his band The Shady Grove. Members include Phil Quinton of Monophobia on bass, Pino on drums, Janos Bajtala on keyboards, and special guest Madelaine on vocals (courtesy of Muse Records).

Mickey has also been in the studio producing other artists, Alex Berry (with Phil Quinton) and will shortly be producing tracks with Oceana at a London studio.
He is scheduling dates to record with his London band The Shady Grove sometime in April.
